Note to self

Just thinking outloud, thinking maybe if I put this all down here I will be somewhat more accountable for it and GET ON IT.
To finish:

  • Pink skull hat (surprise for B)
  • Modern blanket (crochet) - do I love (LOVE) the red or not? decide
  • Tunisian felted experiment/potholder - finish or toss already
  • Cotton Log Cabin blanket
  • Finalize wording on photography price cards, then print and guerilla market :)
  • Flower scarf (I'm sending this to someone special)

To start:

  • New black skull hat when yarn arrives (for Mel)
  • prototype for sling bag that I've alredy cut out. The "dish towels as fabric" one.
Want to do:
  • Start an album that contains a "wrap-up" page of each month. Ongoing - will just grow and grow.
  • Find a spot to put a consistantly sized piece of seasonal art. And make said art. And make said art for other seasons so I can just swap them out with the seasons.
  • (Start and finish) puzzle album
  • (Start and finish) tag album
  • (Start and finish) file folder album

Must do:

  • Decide if I'm really going to start new felted bag and either rip it out and forget about it or start on it for REAL.
  • Pick up S & C at midnight-ish when home from Pasco.
  • Mail LO to SBT mag
  • Find my missing file tab punch - driving me crazy - all kids deny touching it
Should do:
  • Stop starting projects until I cross off some of the ones above!
  • Either hit SEND or CLOSE on the order form open for 2 days on my computer where I've ordered (want to order) 24 balls of Queensland rustic wool.

In other news: I'm SO EXCITED. And its not traditionally exciting, but scary news. Scary, exciting news I have been waiting for for 30 years. I broke my hip when I was 11 and it forever changed my life. I was active as a child and did gymnastics and rollerskating and loved to dance. But after that point, and complications from my surgery, I have lived the rest of my life in moderate to severe pain. I get no exercise, I often move like an old woman. My back is always hurting (from compensating for my hip.) Well, I just met with an orthopedic surgeon this afternoon and I found out today I can get on the surgical list for a hip replacement! I could kick myself (if I COULD) that I didn't do this sooner. The quality of my life would have been so much better. And now it will be! Scary, lots of rehab, but I see this terrifically awesome ability to move and be pain free waiting, just over the horizon. I am so EXCITED!

Yup, a list

I saw this on the Simple Scrapbooks site and loved it! Such a great way to kick your butt back into doing a page when you've been a bit, um, empty, lately.

One thing I’d grab if my house were on fire: My camera
One thing I wish I could throw away: My garbage ON TIME and not miss the truck.
One thing I’ll never, ever throw away: My stash
Something I lost and still miss: Nothing I can think of.
Something I’ve kept since childhood: My love of making stuff
A food item I never run out of: Ice cream
A household brand I’m very loyal to: HEINZ baby!
Something I sleep with every night: A heavy blanket of some kind.
One thing that’s on my wish list: A clean house
Something I take with me wherever I go: Chapstick
Something that makes me smile when I see it: A smiling baby
Something my children fight over: Control of the TV and computer
Something I hate to clean: The fish tank
Something I show off when people visit: New stuff on my walls
Something I hide when people visit: The upstairs
Something I’m embarrassed to admit I like: "Deal or No Deal"
Something I collect: Craft books
Something I avoid at all costs: Guests in my house - always too messy
Something that reminds me of my mother: Home-cooked meals
The best gift I’ve ever received: When my husband picked me up from work and had already arranged for a babysitter so we could go straight to a movie.

8+8=16

Tagged by two of the most talented photographers I know, Melissa and Jen, with the always fun "8 things about you" meme. Does that mean I need to come up with 16 things? Hmmm, a challenge, as I don't know if there are 16 things about me that you don't already know (I'm pretty open about my weirdness.) I'll accept the challenge:

  1. I am a compulsive craft stash buyer/hoarder. I never have remorse, because I love it all so, but I do say "I will NOT buy anything else until XXX occurs (or time passes) and then I literally FORGET and buy something later. Often that same day. I would be SO GOOD, if only my memory was better.
  2. I can not only have one thing going on at once. I counted and as of this morning I have 6 knit or crochet projects going right now. 1 is more than 2 years old, 3 of them I have started in the last week and 2 I started last night. They all sit out in their various stages around the house and usually on the kitchen table. The same kithcen table that is currently piled high with scrapbook product too. Oh, and a sewing project is also sitting there.
  3. I bought two more bookshelves yesterday to hold my growing assortment of craft related books (already full are 3 full bookshelves) that have been piling up in furniture-sized stacks all over the house.
  4. I really get uncomfortable if a black cat crosses my path on the way somewhere. I will be extra cautious immediatley afterwards, and for as long as I remember the crossing.
  5. I remembered last night how much I absolutely LOVE fortune cookies. LOVE THEM. I tried making them once when I was a teenager but they didn't hold the fold right. Tasted good though. So I buy them when I see them, which is rarely, so if you're ever looking for a good gift for me, fortune cookies would be it. (lol, hint hint for I don't know who. My mom maybe?)
  6. Raspberries are my favorite fruit, which figures because they have the shortest season and are always hard to find around here. And I only like the fresh ones, not the frozen.
  7. I hate tart. Sour. Anything even remotely not sweet. Even green apples are too much for me. But I LOVE green apple flavored candy.
  8. I don't usually salt anything, didn't even own a salt shaker when I met my husband. Since then I have started salting turkey and fish and french fries, which makes them even better. He salts everything and way too much I think. Can't be good for him.
  9. I have to eat my potato chips IN my sandwich and usually my french fries IN my hamburger. (Depends on the fry.)
  10. I love waffles but then always feel sick after eating them. I think the sugar/carb rush is too much. But I forget this and always order them, eat them, LOVE them, and then, feel sick.
  11. In organizing the coat rack this morning I found 5 different purses (all of them I had made in the past) hiding underneath the coats and scarves. I love them all and couldn't get rid of any of them, even though two of the projects listed above are also purses.
  12. I hate the hours of 2:00-11:00 pm on Sunday afternoons. I always feel depressed that I know I have to go back to work the next morning and always feel stressed that now it is Sunday afternoon and I haven't done enough around the house (usually laundry.)
  13. I am super envious of my friends that don't work outside the home. Not that they don't work, but meaning they set their own hours. I HATE that I have to be somewhere at a certain time everyday.
  14. I wish I had like-minded friends (like many of you reading this) that lived near me so I could get some inspirational quality time with other women. I get none IRL, only via the web. I feel like that is missing in my life and think it is an important part of day-to-day life.
  15. My current favorite meal is a great grilled steak, baked potato with sour cream and a tossed green salad. Just like the one I had here.
  16. My favorite, non-crafting, thing to do is go to the movies.

Love list

I've notced lately that there are a few things that consistantly make me happy. Some I just remembered "hey, I really love that" and others I never forgot. In no particular order, these are some things that I always love:

American Typewriter font, Raspberries, Banana flavored anything (not actual bananas), good pizza, birds chirping outside, the sound of water, making something I think is beautiful, chubby beautiful pink babies, sitting outside in the shade on a warm day with nothing to do but breathe the sweet air (and hear the birds and water I mentioned before), watching a really entertaining movie that I can lose myself in, beautifully designed fonts from veer.com, colors that sing to me, processing a good image into a great photograph, my camera, computer and software, vacations with my whole family, coming home, the internet, good rootbeer, creamy peanut butter on toasted english muffins, waffles, ice cream, rainier cherries (best bought from a local family fruit stand), black frames with big white mats, painted white wood moulding/wainscotting/trim with colored walls, black as an accent color, warm homemade fruit muffins, natural fiber yarns, calendars, music, stars, my original-style crocs, mary jane shoes, seeing my daughters happy and healthy, Friends re-runs, laughing so hard with my husband that we're crying and gasping for air, hooded sweatshirts and jeans, books, funny tshirt and bumper sticker sayings, cotton quilts.

OK, enough for now, but I know this is just a start.
