The importance of listening

Me: "hey baby, how was school?"
Shade: "Fine."
Me: "Do anything interesting?"
Shade: "um...oh, we washed half a penis today."
Me: "What? WHAT? You washed half a penis??"
Shade: "(laughing) Mom, NO, we WATCHED half of 'PIANIST' today."
Dad: "(also laughing) Man, that must be a pretty big penis."

I couldn't come up with a photo to go with this. thankfully.
Happy Monday.

Conversation with my 15 yo daughter

Went something like this:
Shade: Why do you have it so that key is removable?
Me: In case I don't want to carry all those others. With my car key and, like, my debit card I can take over the world.
Shade: And a bobby pin.
Me: Yea, a bobby pin. And duct tape.
Shade: A pen.
Me: And a piece of paper. In case I need to leave someone a note.
Shade: Who are you going to be writing notes? You're taking over the world.
Me: It could happen.
Shade: Oh, and a tube sock!
Me: In case I need to....keep one leg warm??
Shade: If you're in a fire, on the 5th floor and the only thing around is a zipline you can put the sock over it and slide to safety! (duh!) I saw it in a movie once.
Me: I could just put 2 pieces of duct tape sticky sides together and use that.
Shade: Mom! That's just stupid.

LOL

In other news, one of my photos was selected as the NAPP Image of the Week. (Permalink here.) so cool!

Janelle brought her bag back in (yay - she liked it AND is using it!) so I was able to get a picture. So this leaves 7 projects. And really, 6 because I also did a really cute layout I need to scan and show you. I'm gonna' be shoppin' soooooooon! LOL

It's Monday

The dead rose...um, bulbs (?) in my backyard. I'm so gardening challenged that I don't know what these are. I do know that they are beautiful though. I challenge you to take at least one photo today of something not normally beautiful that you still find intriguing. See if you can capture it in such a way that we see it how YOU see it. Send me links to share!

On the project front, I have 1 more down. Made a really cool tote bag from gorgeous silk placemats and napkins from Pier One. You'll have to trust me on this one as I forgot to take pictures before I gave it away (to a friend who has been carrying her lunch to and from work in a torn grocery bag...tsk, tsk, Janelle.) My mailman loves me

(ha ha Emily, my mailman loves me!)
No seriously I ordered this 2 days ago and it came today and I am SO excited! Wanted a LensBaby for over a year, and those that know me know waiting is not in my vocabulary. It was sitting on the front porch when I opened the door to head, quickly, to Indy's soccer game (we were running l-a-t-e.) Being me, I made us later by squealing "its here!" and deciding I did need to take my camera after all, so I had to get it ready to go. LOVE THIS LENS! Selective focus is so fun, although somewhat hit-or-miss. If you are looking for a creative, inexpensive, way to add a little excitement to your photography, check it out. Make sure you browse through the LensBaby Gallery.
