Storm coming [Wenatchee photography + design]

We haven't been able to get out much this year. My husband was diagnosed with Chron's disease earlier this past Spring and because of the complications he has, life has been mostly indoors for months. I was missing what I call "Vitamin N" (nature) and so was going through my photo archives. The piece below was from our last trip to Lake Chelan, in that brisk time that is not quite Winter, not quite Spring. I remember the tease of knowing warmer weather was coming and the incredible blues and greens that only seem to exist in a lake as deep as Lake Chelan. We'll get there again, but for now, I'm glad I always stop to document so I have images to pull from for inspiration.

Happily art-ing [Wenatchee photography + design]

I've been happily art-ing away. Playing with watercolors and acrylics and attempting oil pastels. Have gotten a few things I like well enough to upload to my Society 6 shop. This is where you'll always find my merchandise. I've also been trying to link to the specific item directly from my website, especially my design stuff (a few photos as well.) Clicking on the smaller images in the galleries (top right corner of the website under "the images") will open it larger and include the link to Society 6 (if it's available.) If you're ever interested in something and can't seem to find a way to purchase, just drop me a line. I'll do my best to make it available. That link is here.

Below are a few of the newest ones.

Watercolor [wenatchee photography + design]

A million years ago, or maybe 25ish, before I had kids, I loved to paint. Watercolors my main choice, though I was eager to play more with acrylics as well, I happily painted "plein air", which basically means outside (plain air), on location. And then, as newly married young people do, I started having kids. And I never painted again. Until this summer. I missed watercolor and decided now was the time. I've been going to our wonderful Wenatchee parks on lunch breaks and weekends and happily playing with techniques and enjoying the pure joy of pushing pigment across paper. If you read my blog, you're in on the ground floor, so to speak, as you can watch my work progress (hopefully for the better.) If you've ever wanted to try watercolor, don't do as I did and let life get in the way. Start now. Life is what you do now, not what you used to do or will do "some day."
