Wenatchee photography: January 1

Just thought this was such a nice contrast. The color and white yes, but also the seasons, the last of the autumn leaves clinging hopelessly as the snow threatens to weight it down. Love the texture of that frozen leaf, almost leathery. It is snowing so hard right now that I would need an underwater housing for my camera just to shoot in it. I took a few from the cover of my front door overhang, but nothng special. How many shots of looking out the front door does one need? Hopefully it will let up this afternoon (I doubt it) and I can go for a drive and see what frozen moments I can capture. Tomorrow is "back to real life" for me with no more long holiday weekends <sigh>. Stay warm (or cool, if you're in the southern hemi) and enjoy the rest of the season.

i [heart] faces one year anniversary

This week is the one year anniversary for the i [heart] faces blog. I haven't entered nearly as often as I'd like, but try to every few weeks. This being the anniversary, they created a special, very fun, challenge. Realistically incorporate the official i [heart] faces logo into a photo. Also allowed this time is up to 5 photos. I didn't intend to do all 5, I actually had my one (the getting a tattoo one, below) done for a couple weeks, as they'd given us a heads up this was coming. But here it is 12:36 am (on the last day of winter break!) and I decided to try another. And another. And...you get the idea. Five photos later, I think I'm done :) Since I have to go back to the real world tomorrow, it's a good thing the limit wasn't more!

“I am submitting this photo into the I Heart Faces logo photo contest. By entering, I am granting I Heart Faces LLC permission to consider my photo for use in the marketing and promotion of their website.”

Leavenworth photography sneek peak: Adrian + Angela elope on Christmas

I had the honor of spending part of Christmas afternoon sharing something magical with two new friends. Adrian and Angela eloped on Christmas day to the winter wonderland village of Leavenworth, WA. Amidst the fairy-tale backdrop that was the Run of the River Inn, they exchanged vows in a very intimate setting, so small that I was the witness! It was sweet and romantic and perfectly suited these two relaxed and very in-love people. A vintage typewriter sat on the quaint desk in the suite and on it I spied a wonderful story penned (typed!) by Adrian about the day's activities. A wonderful momento from the perfect setting for the perfect start to their married life together. Thank you Angela for seeking me out to share this part of your life together!

A Wenatchee photographer's old-fashioned, lazy, do-it yourself holiday greeting

Below is the holiday "card" I sent out this season. I think it might be my favorite one so far.

Also, in case you're wondering why I haven't announced a winner in the 2009 "Giving is Awesome" giveaway, it's because I didn't get a single nomination. Maybe you're thinking "I won't win so why bother?" Well, so far, you would have had a 100% chance of winning. I'm extending the deadline to Dec. 31, so please, if you know a family (or person) who really deserves the gift of custom photography, do not be shy about letting me know!

Wenatchee family photography: Fenter redux

Spent part of the chilly, ohhh sooo chilly, afternoon with the Fenter family again to make a few more images of their sweet little family. A quick trip to a nearby park, complete with slide and a stout little hill that their son loved to run up and down. Promises of hot cocoa kept everyone happy for the most part and we made the best of the short time we were outside.
